Home to School Passenger Assistant - Wigan (Manchester)
Location: Wigan.
Salary: £13.26 per hour.
20 hours per week - Hours are school pick up and school drop off 7:30-10 14:30-16:00.
Contract: Initially 2 months – Further extension is likely.
As a term time Home to School Passenger Assistant, you will support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) as they travel to schools and colleges inside and outside the borough. The role is split‑shift, with a taxi collecting you from home or a set pick‑up point for morning and afternoon journeys.
As part of this statutory service, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort and wellbeing of all passengers during transit. Your support will help children and young people arrive at school or college calm, settled and ready to learn.
The transport arranged for children will pick you up from home or a pre-arranged pick up point within the boundary of Wigan Borough. If you are on a route that is close by we would expect you to get to an agreed pick up point. If there is a need for them to drive, we would pay mileage. If the person did not drive and we have arranged a route far away we can sort transport.
