The work

The SAP BASIS / Database Management Consultant executes the technical administration, monitoring, and maintenance of the SAP landscape and its underlying infrastructure. Working within a technical squad, this role performs hands-on system installations, upgrades, and performance tuning to ensure 24/7 stability. The Engineer bridges the gap between SAP application layers and cloud-native services, ensuring that the environment is secure, resilient, and optimized for federal performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform the technical installation, configuration, and setup of SAP application components within the ecosystem
• Execute the deployment and management of AWS resources ensuring they meet SAP-certified specifications and federal security requirements
• Execute hands-on administration of the SAP database
• Execute and test HA/DR failover procedures using native tools and SAP-specific clustering solutions to ensure system resilience
• Perform technical upgrades, SAP Kernel updates, and the application of Security Notes (SNOTE) to maintain system health and security compliance
• Manage the SAP transport landscape (STMS), ensuring the consistent movement of changes across Development, Quality, and Production environments
• Utilize SAP Solution Manager, Focused Run, or Amazon CloudWatch to perform real-time monitoring of system health, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
• Collaborate with the Technical Architecture Lead and Security teams to execute the integration of SAP systems with federal IAM solutions and third-party interfaces
• Perform regular system backups and execute data recovery drills, ensuring that the environment meets established RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) targets

Here’s what you need

• 5+ years of experience in SAP BASIS administration
• Hands-on experience managing SAP workloads on AWS, including familiarity with AWS Launch Wizard for SAP and AWS Systems Manager
• Advanced skills in analyzing system logs (ABAP dumps, HANA traces, Linux logs) to resolve complex technical issues
• Proficiency in SUSE or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration as it pertains to SAP environments

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field

• US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
• Must have an active Top Secret clearance
• Willingness to travel up to 25%

 

As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Vermont, the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
