Position Title: Software Senior Engineer

Position Location: Burlington, MA. Can work remotely

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Summary of Duties: Provide full design, planning, configuration, development, test, documentation, deployment, and support ownership of technologies. Identify design requirements, make recommendations for capacity planning, performance optimization and future direction. Own and drive the design and architecture phases of new/re-engineered software and storage environments. Design and implement web pages using modern java script frameworks like Ember JS, Ext JS, Angular JS, Backbone JS.  Design and implement distributed backend solutions using advanced Java, Jetty, Spring, Jetty, database, and Maven concepts. Design and Implement end to end solutions by integrating UI solutions with backend services. Design storage solutions per business requirements. Perform storage workload modeling for sizing, optimization, and troubleshooting. Identify the root cause, define problem statement, implement optimal solutions, test, and provide solutions for software bugs / defects. Implement cross-functional, process design improvements and re-engineering efforts to reduce and prevent recurrent and anticipated defects and problems. Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks and make performance-related recommendations (hardware, software, and configuration). Drive the implementation of Closed Loop Corrective Action systems for projects and processes that span multiple departments. Participate in the software development lifecycle, which includes research, new development, modification, security, correction of errors, reuse, re-engineering, and maintenance of software products. Troubleshoot and provide solution to customer issues by gathering parameters from customer environment and provide hot-fix release for solution involving code changes / system configuration recommendations for optimal efficiency to prevent run time issues. Mentor and guide peer software engineers in areas of design, coding, testing, best software development practices. Develop and review design/functional/technical/user documentations. Develop, review, analyze, and implement test strategies for software/storage products and systems. Prepare written software/storage specifications for complex products from architectural diagrams and documents. Follow best practices and implementing source code revision control methods for products.

Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, Software QA Engineer or related occupation.

Requires experience in or knowledge of: Java Script; Java; object-oriented programming; working on product enhancements; fixing defects; database administration; MySQL; RESTful web services; and developing integration and unit tests using Python. Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, teaching, or research experience. Can work remotely.
