Roadway Design Project Manager
The Benesch Florida Division is seeking to add Roadway Design PE Project Managers to our growing Transportation Design practice. This is an experienced position involving exciting, challenging, and complex assignments with outstanding growth opportunities. This is a position with minimum supervision and guidance. The ideal candidate will lead the technical aspects of roadway design projects, including the ability to successfully manage budgets and schedules. The candidate must be a Seller/Doer and maintain good industry connections and relationships. Strong project and people management skills are required. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and motivated to grow.
Location
This position can work out of any of our Florida offices, which include locations in Jacksonville, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, or Tampa, on a hybrid work plan.
The Impact You Will Have
- Perform complex and highly advanced analysis and design, assuming responsibility for the analysis
- Check and sign off on design calculations and plan elements while ensuring completeness
- Perform QA tasks on projects as assigned
- Oversee layout and/or review drawings for a project
- Review and approve project design criteria for the project components and assume responsibility for assigned design calculations and plans
- Assemble and write competent draft report sections
- Monitor and compare cost estimates to client expectations and identify anomalies and propose corrective action to the Project Manager or client as appropriate
- Communicate progress and issues to Project Manager in a timely and ongoing manner
- Identify and propose resolution to issues identified
- Train/mentor others as necessary to complete required tasks
- Continue involvement in professional organizations, seeking leadership roles
- Seek out opportunities to publish papers and develop presentations
What You Will Need
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or higher
- PE required with 8-14 years of experience
- FDOT roadway design experience preferred
- Proficient at using MicroStation and OpenRoads
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with others in a team environment relating to a variety of tasks
- Highly advanced understanding and knowledge of applicable codes and standards (including commentary) #LI-MF1
