Positions in this function will guide, support, and oversee clinical quality at onsite locations, foster clinical relationships, enhance engagement, and support partnerships between business operations, training staff, and medical directors. The objective will be to enhance the delivery of safe patient care through excellent clinical program consultants, and compliance with regulatory requirements. This position may support operations that span various aspects of the Medical & Clinical Operations job family without being limited to a single function.
The clinical program consultant will be responsible for driving excellence in clinical quality and patient safety. This involves application of extensive knowledge of clinical screenings/testing, vaccine administration operations, and various clinical exams. The clinical program consultant will use their clinical experience and expertise to accurately evaluate sites with particular focus on infection prevention/control, specimen collection and vaccine administration, along with their expert consultation, and effective problem assessment and problem-solving skills. This position provides expert clinical guidance, and real-time guidance to the site team lead and team members as needed. The clinical program consultant will identify and mitigate risks impacting operational efficiency and/or patient/staff safety. They will identify deficiencies related to quality of examination documentation, specimen collection and vaccine/medication administration processes, and other surveillance and monitoring. Provide correction and guidance through the development of collaborative, trusting relationships with site team leaders; enhancing their confidence through support for development of their leadership and management skills. The clinical program consultant recognizes situations that may negatively impact operational efficiency or safety and acts appropriately to resolve the situation on site if possible while also escalating situations to the appropriate responsible office/individual in a timely manner. The clinical program consultant effectively communicates and collaborates with cross functional organizational team members that support onsite delivery of care and provides constructive information to improve program operations.
The clinical program consultant conducts surveillance of clinical quality and patient safety and submits accurate, complete survey forms in designated repository for data collection and analysis. This position also conducts clinical audits to review for accuracy and completeness of healthcare and service delivery documentation and makes suggestions for improvement in performance. The clinical program consultant applies surveillance and audit experience to development and revision of surveillance and audit instruments and clinical processes. The clinical program consultant is familiar with, understands and enforces legal/regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, OSHA, ADA, CLIA and related policies and procedures.
