Position Summary:

Command Cyber Solutions, LLC., is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Responsible AI Systems Engineer to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) program. The selected candidate will provide advanced technical expertise to integrate ethical principles across the AI product development lifecycle, develop standardized methodologies for responsible AI deployment, and apply deep knowledge of machine learning, data science, and AI infrastructure to design and implement ethical, secure, and mission-ready AI solutions. This position requires experience working on priority DoD AI platforms, ensuring interoperability with existing infrastructure, and advancing the DoD’s ability to deliver AI capabilities that are reliable, transparent, and aligned with established RAI principles.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the implementation of the DoD Responsible AI program and the development of associated tools and products.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to incorporate ethical principles across the entire AI product lifecycle, from design to deployment.
  • Develop and document standardized methodologies for responsible AI product development and operational use.
  • Apply expertise in data science and AI methodologies to build ethical AI models, ensuring robustness against adversarial threats and eliminating bias in training and outputs.
  • Integrate RAI tools into DoD AI platforms and infrastructure, ensuring interoperability, scalability, and compliance with security requirements.
  • Provide technical reviews, testing, and validation of AI models and systems against RAI frameworks.
  • Support cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers, policy analysts, and program managers, to align technical development with DoD ethical AI objectives.
  • Lead technical working groups, publish findings on responsible AI practices, and mentor junior engineers on applying ethical AI principles to emerging technologies.

 

Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline from an accredited university (Required).
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Artificial Intelligence (Preferred).

 

Certification Required:

  • Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility (Required).
  • Professional certifications in AI/ML engineering, cloud platforms, or ethics (e.g., IEEE Certified Ethics in AI, AWS/Azure AI certification) (Preferred).

 

Experience Required:

  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in AI/ML development and systems integration.
  • 5+ years of expertise in the development of machine learning and AI infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of experience working on DoD priority AI/data platforms (e.g., JCF, ADVANA).
  • 2+ years of experience with Responsible AI software tools and methodologies.
  • Prior experience authoring RAI policies, technical standards, or contributing to DoD AI ethics initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks, AI system design, and responsible AI software tools.
  • Ability to apply ethical principles in technical engineering environments and translate them into measurable, actionable practices.
  • Expertise in integrating RAI into large-scale AI/ML systems within secure DoD or federal environments.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse technical and policy teams.
  • Familiarity with DoD AI platforms such as the Joint Common Foundation (JCF) or ADVANA.
  • Familiarity with advanced ethical AI toolkits, adversarial testing frameworks, and experience in integrating fairness, accountability, and transparency (FAT) metrics into production systems.
