JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, in Hershey, PA is seeking a Research Technologist - Medical Sciences to join a talented research team focusing on developmental mechanistic studies to identify pathogenesis and genetic susceptibilities of lung diseases. We are searching for a highly organized and self-motivated individual, ideally with previous experience in lab management and assisting lab members in individual projects. Conduct experiments including observations, collect, compile and process data. Organize data and findings. Analyze data collected. Provide support to the PI, researchers and technicians both within the lab and collaborating researchers. Order supplies and maintain and organize the inventory. Assist with IACUC and IRB protocols. Train students and others in the lab. Successful applicants should have a degree in Biology or related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Execution of experiments, data analysis, record keeping, ordering lab supplies etc.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and certifications
- Maintain inventory of raw materials, buffers, and reagents
- Handle animal (mice) breeding colony
- Perform common assay like Western Blot, ELISA, PCR, qPCR
- Maintain cell culture
- Participate in troubleshooting of processes
- Complete projects by assisting project team; attend and participate in team, department, and all-hands meetings.
This position will be filled at an Professional, Intermediate, Advanced, or Senior Professional depending on the candidate's education and experience. This position requires a Bachelor's Degre or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional education and/or experience required for higher level positions.
This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:
