Job Description Summary

Research Technician will provide entry-level technical support in a research laboratory by performing routine tests, preparing samples, and assisting with basic experiments. Contributes to laboratory operations through preparation of media and reagents, equipment setup, inventory tracking, supply orders, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.

Research Technician will provide entry-level technical support in a research laboratory by performing routine tests, preparing samples, and assisting with basic experiments. Contributes to laboratory operations through preparation of media and reagents, equipment setup, inventory tracking, supply orders, and maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Place orders and store and organize lab orders.

  • Prepare standard volumetric solutions or reagents to be combined with samples, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.

  • Set up, maintain, calibrate, clean, and test sterility of medical laboratory equipment Prepare standard volumetric solutions or reagents to be combined with samples, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures.

  • Cell culture and maintain cell lines.

  • Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood or urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer.

  • Check mice every week and report any health or environmental problems to supervisor; perform rodent euthanasia.

  • Assist scientists in solving simple problems related to the animals. Answer basic questions about the care of the animals; provide simple, on-site training such as how to pick up an animal, hold an animal and how to put on protective garb.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING**

Qualifications

  • High School Grad/GE Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

  • Applicants should have up to 1-3 years of research experience preferred.

  • Experience working with mice is preferred.

  • The ideal candidate for this position will be a well-organized individual who is eager to learn research techniques.

  • Training will be provided as needed.
