THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL MARCH 31, 2028

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Director of Research in Ophthalmology, the Research Technician 2 works to better understand the pathology of retinal degenerative diseases using in vitro and in vivo models. This will be done through the analysis of tissue structure, the generation of new databases, and the mining of existing databases.

  1. Analyzes tissue images for downstream AI analysis. 

  2. Annotates elements in individual images. 

  3. Programs models to analyze images. 

  4. Performs database generation and mining of existing databases.

  5. Assists with manuscript preparation. 

  6. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of education and work experience to equal four (4) years. (At least one (1) month with computational analysis of large datasets with emphasis on images.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with the annotation of tissue sections needed for the creation of a database of optic nerve phenotypes. 

  • Knowledge of ophthalmic diseases and health.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
