About the role

Position Definition:

The incumbent will serve as a Research Psychologist on multiple PTSD-focused, investigator-initiated research studies conducting structured clinical interviews and neuropsychological testing. The position is per diem.  The research studies are being conducted by the Stress and Health Research Program (SHRP) located at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct diagnostic psychiatric assessments using the Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (SCID), Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) and/or other clinician administered measures to establish study eligibility and obtain post-intervention data.
  • Score and code tests and provide written reports of all assessments.
  • Enter data into ISSO-approved, Cloud and/or MS Office databases.
  • Advise Principal Investigators on questions of participant study eligibility.
  • Maintain essential research study documentation.
  • Participate in data analysis and preparation of reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in research and diagnostic assessment (SCID, CAPS and/or other structured interviews) required, with experience in the SFVA research environment, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5 diagnoses is required
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the diagnosis, treatment or assessment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder required, preferably in a veteran population
  • Familiarity with PTSD research related to study design; use and interpretation of measures used to assess PTSD
  • Understands GCP regulations, guidelines, policies and practices for conducting research clinical investigations
  • Computer literacy with emphasis on Windows operating systems and software applications
  • Strong interpersonal, written/oral communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision

 

Working Conditions/Environment:

The work environment for this position is an indoor office environment and the hospital setting.  Remote work options will be available as long as study procedures can be conducted effectively. The incumbent may sustain posture in a seated position and may use a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time. 

 

VA Onboarding Requirements:

NCIRE is an affiliate organization of the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS), which requires all candidates to complete SFVA onboarding in addition to NCIRE's onboarding process. The SFVA is a federal agency that requires a federal background check, occupational health clearance, vaccines and immunizations, and drug testing for certain positions. Drug testing may include screening for marijuana which remains an illegal substance according to federal law.  The failure to pass required drug testing will disqualify candidates from employment.

 

The base salary range for this position is $45.79 - $82.69 per hour. The base salary actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
