Summary of Job Duties:

The Research Engineer in Mechatronics and Robotics for the Institute for Integrative & Innovative Research (I3R) will lead and contribute to cutting-edge research and technology development in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment. This role demands a unique combination of technical expertise, creativity, and collaborative skills. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment. A professional demeanor and ability to establish effective working relationships, building trust and influence to accomplish work within a setting that includes a wide array of individuals, groups, policies, and processes is expected.

The Research Engineer will contribute to control system and software design, development, and testing on various platforms for a diverse set of projects, as well as develop the functional architecture and strategy for solutions in a manner consistent with the University’s enterprise architecture, security and other compliance/standards necessary. The successful candidate will also collaborate with researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate theoretical models into practical applications that meet all requirements, and document and present development processes and outputs to internal and external stakeholders. They will also continuously update their technical knowledge and skills in line with emerging technologies, and perform other duties as assigned.
