Are you ready to flex your engineering technical skills while also growing your leadership potential?  If you’re ready, we want you to join our Galley Inserts and Chillers team in Lenexa, KS as R & D Engineering Intern.  We specialize in designing galley insert products and aircraft galley chiller systems for commercial and military programs. If you’re ready to take the jump, your time is now! This role is onsite, in Lenexa, KS. This position is eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

• You will have access and work with state-of-the-art equipment.
• You will learn and gain practical experience in a hands-on environment.
• You will work on projects and programs currently in progress at Collins Interior Systems, which allows the intern to apply knowledge that contributes to the overall business.
• You will have the opportunity to lead your own portion of a project, design your own circuitry and present your final report.
• You will have collaboration opportunities with our international sites.

What You Will Learn:

• You will gain exposure to global stakeholders and peers at our facilities in Netherlands, India, and the Philippines.
• You will be introduced to the regulatory and customer compliance domains in aerospace products.
• You will take initiative to suggest improvements to products and processes.
• You will help us advance future product development and innovation of the galley Inserts and chiller product lines.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related STEM field.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling/drafting (NX preferred; SolidWorks/Creo acceptable).
• Familiarity with materials, thermal/structural analysis, or prototype testing.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated interest in R&D innovation through projects, labs, or competitions.
