Research Assistant

We are seeking a Research Assistant. This position is with Dr. Pamela Surkan’s research team in the Social and Behavioral Interventions Program of the Department of International Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. The team is a close-knit group working to address the mental health gap in LMICs, in particular for women experiencing perinatal common mental disorders, by developing scalable, culturally tailored psychosocial interventions.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Meeting regularly with project PIs.
- Extended work hours to accommodate communication with international colleagues, and routine urgent deadlines for grant applications and abstract or manuscript submissions.
- Conducting scientific literature reviews, performing quantitative and qualitative data analysis, contributing to the development of grant applications and manuscripts, and providing project assistance and administrative support activities such as management of human subject research ethical approvals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, tothe extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- An interest in global mental health.
- A high degree of professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail, and motivation to do rigorous and careful analyses both as an independent worker and as part of a collaborative team.
- Previous experience with mixed-methods or qualitative research.

Starting Salary Range: Min $17.00 - Max $30.00 HRLY ($48,880 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.
