Knowesis seeks a Research Assistant to support the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research-West (WRAIR-W). WRAIR-W researches behavioral health and applied psychology to optimize military performance, improve health and readiness, and mitigate operational stress while maximizing soldier health and performance. It is strategically located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. It is unique as it is co-located with service members from all branches and housed within the Madigan Army Medical Center.  

To be eligible for this position, candidates must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance and possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirements.

 The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Support WRAIR-W scientists in executing human subjects research related to psychology, brain health, and human performance
  • Assist in the development and execution of research protocols
  • Prepare study materials and ensure their accuracy and availability for research activities
  • Conduct data collection procedures, including administering surveys, interviews, experiments, and intervention testing
  • Process and analyze both qualitative and quantitative study data
  • Assist with creating reports, presentations, and other deliverables related to research findings
  • Conduct data collection in diverse settings such as clinical, military garrison, and field environments
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure research compliance and adherence to ethical guidelines

Required Qualifications:  

  • Minimum 1 year's experience supporting human subjects research required working with military or veteran populations
  • College/university coursework in research methods, statistics, or similar
  • Experience with Microsoft (MS) Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Good communication and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Two years' experience supporting human subjects research working with military or veteran populations
  • Experience with psychology research software such as Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, and statistical data analysis using SPSS, NVivo, or similar preferred

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in either biology, psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, or related field
