Position Summary / Department Summary
The Pishesha Lab in the Division of Immunology at Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a full-time Research Assistant I to join an interdisciplinary research team focused on immune engineering. The lab specializes in the development and application of camelid-derived nanobodies to modulate and study immune responses.
The Research Assistant will work closely with a senior research assistant and a postdoctoral fellow to support ongoing research projects and day-to-day laboratory operations. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual seeking hands-on experience in immunology, molecular biology, and protein biochemistry. A two-year commitment is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with experimental work in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and immunology, including cloning, protein expression and purification, ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell-based assays.
- • Perform in vitro experiments and assist with in vivo mouse work, including mouse colony maintenance.
- Maintain accurate experimental records and organize experimental datasets.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Prepare figures, graphs, and data summaries for lab meetings and manuscript preparation.
- Maintain laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment.
- Assist with protocol optimization and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and institutional regulations.
- Work closely with postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and other lab members.
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Assist in training junior researchers or students in basic laboratory techniques.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM with a focus in Biology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Prior laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-based research environment is preferred.
- Experience with immunological assays, protein biochemistry, or molecular cloning is preferred.
- Familiarity with flow cytometry, ELISA, mammalian cell culture, and/or protein purification techniques is preferred.
- Prior experience working with mice or animal models is preferred.
