Research Assistant- Hematology/Oncology Database Management

Seeking a part time Research Assistant (6-8 hrs/week) to work in Mayo Clinic Hematology clinical research. Position would be ideal for an undergraduate student or medical student. Job duties include management of clinical databases (e.g. adding new cases and performing data extraction). Multiple opportunities to be included in clinical research publications for the appropriate candidate. Intern must be motivated, organized, and a self-starter. Basic proficiency in excel required. This position requires at least a one-year commitment.
Performs various support functions in research laboratory using proper procedures to avoid the risk of laboratory-acquired infection or sample-to-sample contamination. Maintains and cleans equipment and the facility; maintains and restocks supplies; and maintains computer database. Works under direct supervision. Attention to detail is essential while dealing with multiple tasks. Flexibility is important in adjusting to frequent changes in work volume.
As a hybrid role, this is a work arrangement that supports a combination of offsite (remote) and on-site work according to business needs. On-site expectations are determined by the supervisor and will be discussed during the interview
Requires a high school diploma with coursework in mathematics and relevant sciences. Must have previous work experience that demonstrates organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. Requires manual dexterity, accurate typing, and good communication skills. Must be able to prioritize and adjust to changes in work volume. Experience with Excel software is preferred.
