Biochemistry & Molecular Biology has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant 3 (A) position. The incumben explores innovations to research and strives to improve implementation and family outcomes. The Research Assistant 3 (A) ensures compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations to meet federal, state, and local standards pertaining to safety and ethics.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS        

1.    Plans and implements research experiments, according to research protocols, to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals. 
2.    Participates in assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations. 
3.    Assesses data trends and develops reports and presentations.
4.     Supports the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature. 
5.    Oversees inventory of supplies and equipment and places orders in a timely fashion. 
6.    Assists in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts.
7.     Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Department Specific Functions
1.    Support to researchers who are conducting experiments or gathering data
2.    Responsible for gathering dirty glassware and plastics from laboratories within the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology & Cancer Center . 
3.    Clean, sterilize and return items to each individual laboratory . 
4.    Responsible for maintaining clean laboratory benches including clearing and replacing bench covers when needed. 
5.    Will use autoclave and filtered water equipment for items that require specialized cleaning. 
6.    Prepare simple solutions and reorder media stock under supervisor of research personnel and Department faculty.
7.    Make special culture for animal model studies, fruit flies drosophila.
8.    Make media in large amount every week with and without drugs. 
9.    Keeps room clean including equipment room. 
10.    Place vials in boxes and checks that experiments have all ingredients necessary for the research.
