Job Summary:

Join our Team at University Health Services (UHS) as a Float Registered Nurse

University Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Registered Nurse to support both our Community Health and Primary Care Clinics. This unique role offers the opportunity to practice across a variety of settings, combining direct patient care with public health initiatives that support the health and well -being of UW-Madison students.  

In this dynamic position, you will provide services such as allergy injections, travel consultations, campus outreach, and health promotion activities, while also supporting primary care through triage, patient education, and clinical care coordination.

Schedule:

This is a full-time, on-site position located at University Health Services, 333 East Campus Mall, Madison, Wisconsin. The position works Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some Wednesdays beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer immunizations and travel vaccines in accordance with CDC and UHS protocols

  • Conduct and interpret Tuberculosis (TB) screenings

  • Administer allergy injections and monitor for adverse reactions

  • Conduct travel health consultations and provide evidence-based recommendations

  • Provide telephone triage and nursing assessment

  • Deliver direct patient care and nursing interventions

  • Develop and implement patient education plans

  • Support communicable disease response, case management, and prevention efforts

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care

  • Participate in health promotion and outreach initiatives across the UW-Madison campus

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Evaluates current care plans, completes assessments, develops specialized treatment plans, documents medical activity, and analyzes patient data and results to help diagnosis and treat illnesses and diseases
  • Participates in medical research as needed in collaboration with medical professionals and internal and external stakeholders
  • Provides care to individuals within a specialized area of medicine to ensure physical and mental well-being
  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students

UHS Medical Services provides high quality medical services to UW-Madison students with specialties in primary care, gynecology, sexual health, travel medicine, allergy and immunization, and physical therapy. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventative care in support of the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services.

Compensation:

The minimum salary for this position is $72,800. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin

  • Valid BLS CPR certification or able to obtain prior to start date
