Regional Safety Manager

We are looking for a reliable Safety Manager for the North East Region to ensure everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws. You will also be responsible for establishing and implementing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace.
Your specific duties in this role will include:
Safety / Loss Control
- Serves as the heart of the proactive safety and loss control program. Develops, administers and maintains policies, programs and procedures to minimize personal injury, automobile, petroleum spill, and general liability claims.
- Develops training programs and researches new equipment to enhance safety for all job processes.
- Conducts training classes for all field personnel.
- Analyzes insurance loss data for accurate targeting of resource allocations for safety programs.
Internal Compliance
- Updates, distributes and assures adherence to many of company's internal compliance policies, including release reporting, waste handling, CO calls, chemical procurement and use, asbestos, agency contact protocol and motor vehicles.
- Conducts annual tour of all facilities to re-issue many of our policies and reinforce company's commitment to overall compliance.
- Develop and conduct targeted audits at operating locations to validate loss control programs and identify areas of improvement
- Conduct interviews with employees to assess personal performance in all areas of safety and loss control.
- Partner with operational departments to develop goals for improvement and action plans to achieve said goals
- Carries out other duties as assigned.
As a Safety Manager, you must be professional and possess the ability to function equally well in both a team environment and independently. You must also be highly detail oriented and focused with a flexible and adaptable nature. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills as well as the ability to interact effectively with both customer and coworkers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or any other related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a safety professional
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other applicable health and safety standards.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and Team orientated.
- Well organized and ability to multi-task.
- High energy, self-motivated, and quick thinking.
- Ability to work in a structured environment and to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently towards a common team goal.
- Have the ability and willingness to work additional hours when necessary based on workload and volume.
- Works closely with Safety Administrators to ensure continuity of safety program within our branch offices.
- Must be able to conduct On the Road field Audits.
- Must have valid Driver's License with the ability to meet the company's motor vehicle policy
- Travel to RI, MA, CT as needed
