The Opportunity

CEO is currently seeking a recruiter to support hiring managers in bringing on outstanding, values-aligned, and social-justice committed team members who support our participants. The Recruiter manages the recruitment and hiring process for a portfolio of sites or departments. This position also supports the effort to build, shape, and implement sustainable hiring processes, programs, and systems. 

In addition to recruitment responsibilities, each of CEO’s Recruiter roles has a specific area of focus (operations, external outreach, etc) that is outlined in the responsibilities section below.

Who We Are 

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

Who You Are

Education and Experience

  • You have at least 2+ years of relevant work experience, full-cycle recruiting experience in a high volume organization
  • You have Experience managing operational aspects of recruiting such as high-volume sourcing, compliance, background checks, and reference checks.
  • You’ve demonstrated an aptitude and ability with technology (with the Google Suite and preferably with applicant tracking systems). - Preferred Experience with Greenhouse

  • You demonstrate exceptional operational discipline, managing high-volume scope of work with a focus on meticulous accuracy, efficiency, and strict adherence to all compliance and contractual obligations
  • You are a strong project coordinator, effectively coordinating multiple complex aspects of the hiring lifecycle—including logistics, background checks, and sourcing campaigns—under tight deadlines
  • You take the initiative to prioritize and skillfully manage a designated, high-volume caseload of requisitions, adjusting priorities in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
  • You’re an excellent communicator (verbal and written) and you operate with ease in collaborating and liaising with multiple constituencies and departments by tailoring your communication efforts to various audiences
  • You believe in collecting, analyzing, and applying data to drive strategy and decision making
  • You enjoy setting ambitious goals and demonstrate eagerness, discipline, and resilience in achieving goals individually and collectively, no matter the complexities that arise
  • You love learning and are particularly interested in building your own knowledge and skills in support of organizational needs, mission, and goals
  • You’re dedicated to identifying and addressing your own filters, privileges, biases, and cultural preferences and to continuous learning and improvement in diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Recruitment

  • Manage a designated caseload of requisitions, ensuring documentation and progress updates are consistent
  • Drive comprehensive, full-cycle sourcing strategies across a caseload identifying channels and building diverse candidate pipelines through platforms including  Indeed, LinkedIn Recruiter and job boards
  • Lead the coordination of recruitment networking events to cultivate diverse candidate pipelines and develop relationships with external recruitment partners
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand their hiring needs and develop position-specific sourcing strategies; provide candidate pool demographic data, and provide  guidance and updates throughout the search process
