HIRING RANGE: $58,572 - $70,018 annually

Responsible for the day-to-day coordination and operation of assigned recreation center and related facilities including indoor and outdoor pools.  The Facility Coordinator will assess operations, research trends, develop, plan, implement and evaluate facility needs and services. This position works to streamline efficiencies among work group, implement training methods, and support operational needs for the facility and aquatics teams. The Facility Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison to the facility users, coordinates the accommodation of individuals and groups utilizing the facility for structured and non-structured activities, and establishes and maintains all systems and processes associated with a multipurpose recreation center.  Position may include early mornings, nights and weekend shifts, as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides direct supervision and effective and positive leadership to facility and aquatics staff.
• Responsible for coordinating the recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and discipline of all center staff consistent with City policies and procedures.
• Ensures that safe conditions exist both inside and outside the facility. Monitors and responds to situations that are unsafe, potentially dangerous, or may cause user discomfort. Duties may include shoveling and applying snow melt for safety on sidewalks and pathways.
• Directs and supports staff in executing their responsibilities.
• Monitors assigned location(s) registration and cash collection system.
• Works with Specialists to coordinate facility and pool rentals and reservations with internal and external user groups.
• Monitors all uses of the center ensuring that policies and procedures are followed.
• Oversees required maintenance on equipment. Ensures that the center is clean and appropriately presentable for use.
• Maintains effective communication with center staff, the general public, and other work groups within and outside the city system.
• Requires regular and prompt attendance. Opens and closes the center as required.

Reporting Relationships
Receives direct supervision from the Recreation Supervisor - Facilities.
Provides direct supervision to full and part time staff, and variable staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Strong supervisory and interpersonal skills necessary.
• Ability to organize and monitor multiple functions.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to be an effective team member.
• Must possess sound conflict management skills.
• Working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
• Ability to consistently demonstrate a high degree of understanding and commitment to providing quality customer service.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts that include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to perform maintenance and repairs on related facility equipment as well as use hand tools and cleaning equipment.
• Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.
• Background check is required.

Technological Skills
• Ability to use a personal computer, iPhone, and other technology as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Human Performance, Recreation Facility Management; OR

  • Three or more years of full-time progressive experience in club/recreation/aquatics center management with one or more years’ supervisory experience preferred; OR

  • Two years of college training in a major such as recreation, human performance, recreation facility management or related and one or more years of satisfactory and verifiable full-time experience in recreation.

  • One year of aquatics management experience preferred.


Certification/Licenses/Specialized Training
• Valid driver’s license and good driving history
• Current CPR and First Aid Certified or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
• Current AFO or CPR or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire
