GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The City of Spring Hill is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to assist in daily operations of the Parks and Recreation Department. The primary emphasis of this position will be to plan and implement all communications and marketing efforts to promote The City of Spring Hill Parks and Recreation Department including but not limited to social media, digital marketing, and print materials. This position will require general office work, as well as planning and execution of programs, activities, and events for the Spring Hill community. Parks and Recreation events are mainly outdoor events such as festivals, sports events, arts and crafts events, movies, concerts, and games, but some events are indoor such as community dances, senior center luncheons, and other activities. This is a part-time, non-exempt position and will be approximately 25-30 hours a week. This position reports to the Recreation Superintendent, as directed by the Parks and Recreation Director, and work assignments will vary from day to day.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Assist with online and in person facility reservations.
· Manage social media and marketing that include digital and print.
· Convey general parks and recreation information to the public over the phone and in person.
· Assists the team in keeping the parks and recreation facility in a clean and orderly condition
· Properly file and maintain records and reports
· Correspond with vendors and the public
· Occasionally assist with operations and/or events at the Spring Hill Community Senior Center
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Recreation Superintendent or Parks and Recreation Director.
Requirements
REQUIRED ABILITIES
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
· Ability to operate a computer for word processing, basic spreadsheets, social media, recreation software etc.
· Ability to photograph events, activities, and promotional content.
· Capture high-quality photos that reflect our brand’s values and mission, ensuring consistent visual content across all platforms.
· Ability to perform the skills necessary to complete CPR, First Aid and AED training as provided by employer.
· The preferred candidate should also be able to project a professional and social demeanor, prioritize tasks, follow protocol, and be motivated to interact with our patrons in a positive way.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· High School Diploma/equivalent required.
· Two years’ experience in recreation, education, public relations, customer service, guest services, or a related field required.
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds required.
· Availability to work some nights, weekends and or holidays.
· Valid Tennessee Drivers' License required.
· Experience working with senior citizens is a plus.
· Experience with RecDesk software or other recreation/customer service software is desirable but not required.
