In this vital role, you’ll work alongside our Radiologists to deliver top-tier diagnostic imaging—preparing and positioning patients, assisting with sedation, and capturing the images that make accurate diagnoses possible. Position Summary
The Radiology Technician supports the Radiologists and hospital by facilitating and managing efficient patient care for animals receiving diagnostic imaging. Prepares and transports patients for imaging procedures and restrains during procedures. The Technician is responsible for venipuncture, sedation administration and monitoring during radiology procedures. The Technician documents patient care in the Hospital’s PIMS and Whiteboard system and is responsible for managing diagnostic imaging requests and associated charges.
Compensation:
- $22 - $32 hourly, based on experience
- Full Time
- Tuesdays to Fridays
- 8:30am – 6:30pm
- Facilities daily schedule of patient care. With feedback from Radiologist and Specialties, assists with the prioritization of patient care.
- Maximizes DVM time by appropriately preparing for procedures and anticipating needs.
- Monitors and positions patients, and administers medications as needed during CT scans and ultrasounds.
- Venipuncture, to include catheter placement, blood draws, and drug administration.
- Processes blood and urine specimens.
- Under the direction of the Specialist and/or Anesthesiologist, administers sedation per order.
- Documents patient care, and associated charging, in the Medical Record and Whiteboard systems.
- Communicates with Technicians and DVMs with timelines and scheduling of imaging procedures for their patients.
- Is a Subject Matter Expert on appropriate positing and image quality for all modalities within the Radiology Department.
- Trains other employees in imaging positioning and quality.
- Maintains hospital cleanliness but performing general cleaning duties: Laundry, sweeping, moping, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of Veterinary Technician experience required
- Registered Veterinary Technician, in Colorado, or the ability to become registered upon hire.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
- At least 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a Specialty Hospital
- Experience with performing anesthesia
- Ability to multitask and anticipate the department's needs.
- Excellent communication.
- Experience using Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
