Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment, and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may go on to specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine 

 

A caregiver in this position works weekend days, 7:00am—7:30pm. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Adjust and control complex electronic equipment in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations. 

  • Prepare and position patients prior to procedures to ensure their safety and to obtain desired reports for diagnostic purposes. 

  • Calculate and select appropriate equipment and technical factors such as proper type of film and number of kilovolts or milliamperes.  

  • Maintain working condition of all equipment and report any malfunctions or needs for adjustments to appropriate personnel. 

  • Assist in maintaining sanitary condition of radiology area. 

  • Comply with all Radiology information system entry requirements for accurate patient, film, supply, tracking monitors. 

  • Assist and support the Radiologic student program, specifically the clinical aspect. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of Radiologic Technology programs from approved school.
