Job Summary
The R&D Engineering Intern will be responsible for working on projects and assignments that will help the research engineering team implement improvements to lab operations. The intern will gain experience in understanding computer aided design (CAD) and design for manufacture, 3D printing, tolerance and error stackups, lifecycle quality management and tracking, considerations for mechanical test setup and execution, considerations for biomechanical test setup and execution. The intern will also learn how to work with partners and stakeholders in an effective manner.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, compare and report data for lifecycle quality management.
- Identify, enhance, and implement efficiency improvements for our lab operations
- Design (Within CAD software), prototype and manufacture fixtures, to be manufactured by our dedicated on-site team in our facilities.
- Guide development of methodology for error uncertainty in mechanical test setups

Expected Area of Competence (i.e. KSAs)
- Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively work within a team and cross functionally.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Software: Computer Aided Design Systems; Microsoft Office Suite and Project Tracking
- Skills: Self-motivated, understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principals, project management, process development, basic statistical methods.
Education / Experience Requirements
- Working on an undergraduate or graduate degree majoring in Science or Engineering related field: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Biomedical Engineering preferred.
