Description:
Work with manufacturing quality team to ensure product quality via testing and root cause analysis. Position is responsible for planning and conducting inspections and testing of refrigeration compressors; performing root cause analysis on internal failures and customer line returns; and the documentation and communication of testing results to appropriate individuals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform quality inspection and testing of new purchased parts, in-process, and finished products.
- Perform calorimeter testing of compressors to accurately measure the performance by controlling and monitoring the heat transfer within a closed system, as well as auditing of visual placement of assembly/labeling/etc. of unit.
- Perform hydrostatic, residue, cold-trap, phosphate coating weight, and UL testing as required.
- Plant support: problem solving, running product to validate deviation request prior to submittal
- Calibration as needed such as, not all inclusive, pressure gauges, dial indicators, hard gauge setup.
- Teardown and evaluate customer line returns for cause-and-effect information.
- Assess whether quality levels align with customer and company standards.
- Notify appropriate personnel when inspection data exceeds acceptable limits.
- Assist in the implementation of corrective actions.
- Use appropriate measurement tools to determine product quality.
- Review and address non-conformance reports and inform collaborators.
- Process materials returned from customers to help determine warranty claims disposition.
- Measure and track First Pass Yield of leak testing processes.
- Perform destructive testing (Burst Test) when required and record results.
- Conduct initial inspections of articles and inform collaborators of the outcomes.
- Take digital photos of components for shipment documentation.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Coordinate and maintain documentation regarding product quality.
- Comply strictly with all quality and safety regulations.
Requirements:
- Two years of college and one to three years of related experience, or four to six years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Ability to calculate mathematical formulas, including rate, ratio, and percent.
- Understand and read complicated engineering drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, and employees.
- Experience operating various precision measuring and testing equipment.
- Analytical skills for effective root cause and analysis
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving multiple variables.
- Proficiency with computer systems, applications, especially Microsoft Office and TEAMS
Preferred Requirements:
- HVAC certification
- Operate, program, and edit CMM routines as required.
- PC-DMIS for CMM certification or like software
- Relevant ASQ certification
Working Conditions:
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts, occasionally with explosive conditions and exposed to fumes.
- Frequently required to stand and walk; occasional sitting and stooping.
- Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
- Noise level is moderate to loud; ability to hear and speak is necessary.
