Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Within a team environment, Quality Rating Assessor performs the following responsibilities:

Environmental Rating Scales (60%)

  • Schedule and conduct curriculum fidelity assessments and quality assessments on center and family childcare environments using the appropriate Environmental Rating Scale. (ITERS/FCCERS). Travel to the center or family childcare location as needed to conduct assessments.
  • Generate accurate assessment scoresheets and summary reports for debriefing, data collecting purposes, and continuous quality program improvement. 
  • Develop and implement group trainings; educate and assist on a variety of environmental assessments requirements and topics, support coaches/providers with training resources and materials and build the coaches’ skills to analyze data collected to support quality improvement within curriculum fidelity and childcare environments.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders related to childhood education that supports rating scales outcomes and on-going program improvement.
  • Analyze rating scale scores, child assessment data (DRDP) and curriculum fidelity (Creative Curriculum) to support quality improvement within the childcare environments and school readiness goals.

Compliance (20%)

  • Ensure yearly certifications within the rating scales are up to date.  Maintain a reliability score of 90%.
  • Mentor and support coaches/providers in meeting HS Federal and State program requirements for best practices.
  • Document and maintain required data following the standard operating procedure. 
  • Produce reports after every concluded visit, observe for trends and patterns and submit aggregated reports for caseload to CCP Supervisor/Manager monthly. 
  • Maintain a system of confidentiality for data, records, and information of Head Start families at all times.

Comprehensive Services (10%)

  • Develop, evaluate, and implement new and current policies and procedures.  Assist with the design and implementation of monitoring tools to be used. Develop and maintain well-defined lines of communication and professional boundaries collaborating and establishing effective working relationships.
  • Provide data recommendations from the rating scales to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching practices, provider goals, and child outcomes.
  • Keep current on updates and implementation of the curriculum fidelity and Environmental Rating Scales. Provide updates to the CCP staff, FCCHEN staff, and ECL Leadership, and community partners.

Job Specifications

Minimum Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Experience:
  • Three years of experience in Early Childhood Education using the environmental rating scales, mentoring, or coaching, data integration/analysis, adult training, large and small group facilitation.
    • Experience with developing, organizing, planning, and conducting training on Early Childhood related topics.
  • Professional/Technical Certifications: Must obtain certification in the environmental rating within 6 months of hire. Obtain the silver level reliability (85% reliability) on ERS tools.
  • Travel: This position requires 50% of travel between San Fernando and Antelope Valley locations and will consist of meeting with Center staff and Family Child Care providers, attending meetings, trainings, CCRC sponsored events and conferences.  Some overnight travel may be required. Staff members driving on behalf of CCRC may choose to drive a CCRC vehicle or own vehicle and must meet requirements to be an approved driver including holding and maintaining current auto insurance, current California Driver’s License and DMV clearance required.
  • Work Schedule: This position is full time, 40 hours per week; will work a non-traditional schedule (i.e., weeknights and weekends).
