Part of Dover Corporation’s Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift®, Chief®, Forward®, Direct-Lift®, Ravaglioli, Hanmecson®, Revolution®, Elektron, Blitz, Nogra, Butler, Space and Sirio.
SUMMARY:
The Quality Manager is responsible for implementing and executing inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to ensure that products adhere closely to company standards. This role is a direct report to the Director of Quality and a member of the plant leadership team for the Madison, Indiana plant. The Quality Manager has the organizational freedom to identify problems related to quality and correct them, initiate action for their correction, or stop any work or activity that violates the established quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Develop, certify, and maintain a quality system complementary to corporate policies and goals.
- Maintain/manage ISO 9001 system certification. Including managing external audits from the registrar and maintaining internal audit program, making sure all CAR are getting closed in timely manner.
- Administer the VSG warranty policy program. Working with sales and customer service to ensure appropriate outcomes for the customer and VSG.
- Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality, implement immediate containment and address the issue permanently with kaizen.
- Lead cross functional groups in working through field failure issues and addressing them as a priority.
- Lead supplier quality efforts in conjunction with supply chain with good preservation corrective actions.
- Work with quality facilitators to resolve manufacturing quality concerns and constantly doing FAST/Kaizens.
- Drive continues improvement through the organization with Lean knowledge, Kaizen events, six sigma tools, process analysis by using SPC.
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Perform quality-engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
- Review all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure corrective actions are in place to decrease losses.
- Keep management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve on constant basis.
- Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Maintain a working knowledge of government and ALI industry quality codes & standards.
- Design and implement quality training programs to key personnel and new hires in conjunction with managers / HR.
- Develop clear roadmap, design, and monitor & update Quality System to improve overall quality in the factory, assuring the necessary tools to find root causes, build action plans to prevent recurrence, to assure reliability for future projects and growth plans.
- Conduct MRB meetings, make all the transactions for dispositions. Engage all the MRB team participants and report the outcome.
OVERALL QUALIFICATIONS – Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or related field
- Minimum 7 + years of quality leadership experience
- The Ideal candidate will have excellent planning skills, leadership ability, coaching abilities, and be able to work well with all levels.
- Proven experience as a functional leader with significant technical, team management and operational responsibility
- ISO 9001:2015 Lead auditor certification from a third-party organization preferred
- Good knowledge of required industry standards ISO9001, AWS D1.1, ASTM material specifications
- Proven experience in use of quality related tools such as Kaizens/FAST, 8D’s, PPAP, 5W1H, 5 Whys, 4M1D/Fishbone etc
- Advanced knowledge of quality systems including PPAP, APQP, SPC, Cp Cpk, Control Charts, Gage R & R and other applications.
- Lean Six-Sigma experience preferred and will be given an advantage.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification preferred.
- Knowledge of weld inspection and metallurgical lab practices is a huge benefit.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication practices and hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access is a big plus to develop databases.
