Job Summary

The Quality Engineering Technician plays an integral role at Day & Zimmermann located at the Munitions facility in Texarkana, TX. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing comprehensive quality control systems that ensure our products meet rigorous industry standards and our customers' expectations. By applying advanced testing and inspection procedures, the technician guarantees compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements. The position involves conducting audits to identify any discrepancies or deficiencies in quality systems and working collaboratively with production teams to drive continuous improvements. This role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to manufacturing excellence, enhance product reliability, and support the overarching mission of delivering superior quality munitions and government products safely and effectively.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Quality Engineering Technician combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities to uphold and advance the organization's quality standards. This position fosters a proactive approach towards quality management and encourages the adoption of best practices in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection and Process Monitoring: Collect and analyze production data using fundamental statistical and metrology techniques to monitor manufacturing quality and identify opportunities for improvement. Utilization of quality tools will be key to supporting product quality investigations and implementing corrective and preventive actions
  • Testing Methodology Application: Develop a thorough understanding of testing methodologies applicable to product specifications. Employ test results critically to evaluate and improve production processes
  • Documentation and Technical Writing: Create and maintain comprehensive work instructions, labor estimates, detailed reports, and proposals. Maintain calibration and quality control records with high accuracy to ensure compliance and traceability
  • Root Cause Analysis and Audit Support: Assist in conducting root cause analyses and facilitating corrective and preventive action plans. Participate in process audits, interpret testing data against product specifications, and recommend effective process improvements.
  • Training and Communication: Support quality assurance training initiatives and communicate quality standards and expectations effectively to production personnel

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Management Information Systems Expertise: Ability to develop, implement, and manage quality-related information systems critical for tracking and improving quality metrics.
  • Metrology and Statistical Analysis Skills: Proficient in applying metrology tools and statistical methodologies to diagnose and correct quality control discrepancies and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of Human Factors: Knowledgeable about human behavior, motivation, and ergonomics to facilitate quality improvements and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated capability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and develop actionable solutions to support quality objectives.
  • Industry Standards and Quality Tools Familiarity: In-depth understanding of applicable industry codes, standards, and quality tools such as Six Sigma, ISO standards, and SPC (Statistical Process Control).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, ensuring foundational knowledge for quality engineering tasks.
