What you'll do...

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead site activities to improve internal indicators related to the machining, assembly, and testing of engines, and implement standards and best practices for manufacturing, testing, teardown, and analysis of powertrains.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Schedule and organize department process audits and GEMBA walks to effectively understand and investigate open issues.
  • Collaborate with site manufacturing teams, Product Development (PD), and Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) to implement Emergency Response Actions (ERA), understand root cause, establish Initial Containment Actions (ICA), implement Permanent Corrective Actions (PCA), and prevent Reoccurrence Actions (PRA).
  • Lead or support all applicable meetings, including Document Control Committee (DCC), Daily Quality Meeting (DQM), Subteam meetings, Product Quality Review (PQR), Problem Resolution Team (PRT), and Product Change Control (PCC).
  • Partner with the Manufacturing Quality office to understand and implement leading indicator metrics.
  • Organize customer and/or supplier visits as needed to develop action plans and drive to closure.
  • Support off-shift problem-solving activities as needed.
  • Establish and improve procedures, processes, and the Zone Control Center as needed to support robust execution of the Quality Operating System (QOS).
  • Engage external laboratories as necessary to determine root cause.
  • Coach both salaried and hourly employees as necessary.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,

 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience using core quality and lean methodologies, including Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DoE), Eight Disciplines (8D), 5 Whys, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Lean tools (5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, Value Stream Mapping), Total Quality Management (TQM), Kaizen methods, and error-proofing systems.

  • Experience/Working Knowledge of ISO 9001 audit and standards procedures
  • Six Sigma Certification.
  • Proven background in high-volume automotive or quality analysis, including experience with a unionized workforce.
  • Working knowledge of Visual Factory Management, Quality Operating System (QOS) processes, casting metallurgy, machining, assembly, and testing processes, along
    with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
