The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) is responsible for assuring that Suncast procedures and processes are adhered to. He/she must ensure that Suncast products meet quality standards required to maximize Customer Satisfaction while minimizing quality costs. This is an onsite position.

Other responsibilities may be assigned.

• Attending all new product pilot runs and first production runs.
• Working in a team environment to develop and implement best practices that emphasize process improvement, defect prevention, and the reduction of variation and waste through continuous improvement.
• Design, development, updating of quality tests, testing documentation, procedures, and requirements.
• The Quality Engineer performs Quality Testing for new and current products to meet Customer and Suncast Quality requirements.
• Evaluate new production methods for new or existing products.
• Report on areas that may result in defects or customer dissatisfaction and propose solutions.
• The Quality Engineer develops an inspection plan for all products. This will outline inspection method, lot size, sample size and defect action.
• Drawings on engineering standard sheets are clear and accurate.
• The Quality Engineer ensures that all products have up to date inspection sheets.
• Evaluate non conformances internally and externally and determine if a root cause analysis is needed.
• The Quality Engineer ensures that quality concerns are understood and addressed.
• Review non conformance data.
• Determine recurring trends.
• Coordinate the implementation of corrective actions.
• The Quality Engineer performs the testing and evaluation of products with feedback to the proper departments.
• Support of all Suncast departments in assisting with any Quality related concerns.
• Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods always. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science preferred.
• Three to five years’ experience in a related manufacturing field.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black belt certified preferred.
• Additional skills and attributes that are critical to the position:
• Experience in injection and blow molding products and processes.

• Lean Manufacturing knowledge with a Continuous improvement mindset.
• Problem-solving skills and Corrective Action (CAPA)
• Ability to present data effectively.
• Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
• Good Organizational, Planning and Prioritizing skills
• Understanding of engineering drawings (GD&T) and manufacturing processes
• Self-supervising within the guidance and expectations of management.
• Work independently and is reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision.
• Bi-lingual a plus.
• Knowledge of relevant software, quality assurance methods, tools, and quality manufacturing processes (ISO 9001, TQM, APQP, PPAP, DVP&R, FMEA, QFD, Statistical analysis and control, Inspection methodology, etc.)
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Lotus Notes
• AS400, SolidWorks, Mattec experience is a plus.
