Job Description

Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer – Deltar Fasteners will report to the Quality Manager – Deltar Fasteners and will be responsible to work with the management team in a hands-on role to direct the quality control program on the manufacturing floor to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standard for customer compliance.  Direct and manage all quality systems including IATF-16949 standards for the automotive industry. 

 

Qualifications

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own and administrate the DMIR system; summarizing findings, ensuring system functionality, user management, following up with teams on corrective actions and improvement plans
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful and forward-thinking approach to corrective action planning and root cause investigations.
  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the costs, time and effort required to sustain new initiatives and proposals, especially in reference to corrective actions; support with executing these sustainment activities as-needed and where possible.
  • Individual will create and maintain quality control objectives and production procedures in cooperation with Manufacturing Manager to maximize production, reliability and minimize costs 
  • Develop systems and provide training for manufacturing and quality personnel
  • Participate in meetings and negotiations with customer and management teams to proactively increase quality of manufacturer components, control APQP processes, control plans, PPAP submissions, evaluate and resolve customer concerns.
  • Review manuals, procedures, work instructions, forms and quality system for compliance to current automotive standards and related agencies (i.e. AIAG, IATF, ISO), support ITW Deltar Fasteners relevant to quality systems and compliance
  • Remain current with customer required quality system procedures, policies, manuals, and subscriptions
  • Serve as liaison between ITW Deltar Fasteners and the customer
  • Monitors quality performance goals along with the Quality Manager
  • Leader of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in surveillance of subcontractors' manufacturing processes and control subcontractor performance systems
  • Assist with IATF-16949/ISO-14001 Management Representative, duties including ensuring internal audits are conducted and support external auditor during surveillance audits for ITW Deltar Fasteners
  • Reviews quality problems with engineering personnel and assists with action required to correct defect. Prepares periodic and special reports concerning departmental activities, problems, assist with subcontractor’s quality system, schedules, and rejected items
  • Overall authority to disposition suspect/rejected product
  • Oversees check fixture design, build, and approval
