Job Purpose

The Quality Supervisor is the key driver for the day-to-day activity, productivity, and priority in the Waukegan Quality Control Lab. These activities are guided in accordance to the relevant quality standards and specifications to ensure a quality product is delivered to all of the necessary customers in a timely fashion. Work is monitored through the leading quality KPIs which are tracked daily by the supervisor. Forward-looking metrics are also considered for the long-term goal of continuous improvement at both the lab and site levels. Additionally, batch status updates and quality reporting are important portions of the Supervisor’s work scope. As a people manager with several direct reports, the Supervisor will also lead the objective setting, check-ins, and review sessions with each of their team members. And, the Supervisor will be responsible for other team HR functions such as structure changes, payroll, and setting the AkzoNobel standard for Code of Conduct and Leadership. By upholding these various responsibilities, the Quality Supervisor is a pillar for the quality community at the Waukegan site and beyond

Key Responsibilities

Support all site safety programs through proper lab techniques, GEMBA walks, and the BBS process. 
•    Setting team individual goals for direct reports and holding the follow-up meetings throughout the year. 
•    Actively reviews MyTime requests and approvals per the site/regional guidelines.
•    Identifies continuous improvement opportunities for the teams and site based on batch trend analysis and process confirmations. 
•    Review and update Standard Operational Procedures and forms
•    Complies to all the required safety, conduct, regulatory, and corporate procedures.  
•    Contributes to the Internal Non Conformance Report (INCR), Vendor notification and customer complaints processes when related to quality (root cause investigation and corrective action implementation). 
•    Participates in internal and external audits (i.e. AS9100D, customer, SAQ, etc.). 
•    Identifies product candidates with poor come offs and escalate them to the right channel to improve performance right first time (SOP, QAD, BOM updates, etc).
•    Promotes a quality mindset and motivates team members to emulate it.
•    Conducting and facilitates training sessions & mentoring employees

•    Supervise and facilitate day to day activities for QC technicians (Recertifications, special projects, in-process checks, Subject to Cleanliness checks, production batches testing, incoming inspections, other site requirements)
•    Prioritize and ensure completion of process orders to meet customers (internal and external) expectations
