Job Description

Title: Quality Control Engineer -FMEA Moderator

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management

  • Lead and coordinate quality improvement and cost-reduction projects within the production environment.
  • Develop project plans, track milestones, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure project success.

Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Investigate product and process non-conformances using root cause analysis tools (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues.
  • Monitor effectiveness of implemented solutions and adjust as needed.

Process & Product Improvement

  • Analyze production data and perform statistical analysis (SPC, Cp/Cpk, etc.) to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support Process change management (PCM), Process/Product Qualifications.
  • Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Quality (DFQ) reviews.

Customer & Supplier Interaction

  • Interface with customers on quality concerns, audits, and improvement actions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve incoming material issues and improve supplier quality performance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive and support Lean Six Sigma initiatives and kaizen events.
  • Champion quality awareness and training throughout the production floor.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering field and 5 years of quality engineering experience or 9 years of quality engineering experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience for products, processes, or systems in relevant industries (automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Experience in cross-functional project team leadership and facilitation.
  • Strong understanding of quality systems, tools, and risk management methodologies (FMEA, 8D, SPC, etc.).
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions, ensuring active participation, and managing conflict.
  • Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to maintain a structured approach in potentially high-pressure environments.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture.
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, ERP/QMS systems.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certifications
  • Familiar with plant operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of MTU components and products
  • Strong knowledge of internal combustion engine performance requirements

Work Environment:

Daily work is performed in a general manufacturing and office environment.

This position has a compressed work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week, and the position is eligible for overtime as business requires with causal overtime expected.

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will be occasionally requested to come in contact with wet environmental conditions. Finally, the employee will frequently hear noise while performing task in the work environment.

While performing physical demands of the position, regularly the employee will be requested to stand, sit, walk, climb and stoop.  However, the employee will frequently be requested to balance, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat.  Finally, an employee will be frequently requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.

Employees will be occasionally required to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment. The materials will weigh between 10-50 pounds and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials during the course of a week.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and employee must have the ability to see in color. The employee must also be able to inspect MTU America engine products under a fluorescent black light.<
