Job Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage the Quality system and Quality team.
- Perform general manager duties such as performance appraisals, PTO approval and participate in management meetings as needed.
- Maintain and oversee state(s) laboratory certifications, A2LA ISO 17025 accreditation by preparing the annual renewal applications for lab state certifications and apply for initial state certification when needed.
- Manage and coordinate the testing of Proficiency Testing (PT) studies, review PT results and prepare the PT reports to ensure that the lab is in compliance with the state certification PT requirements
- Review and understand the state(s) and EPA regulatory requirements under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safe Drinking Water Act Program (SDWA, 40 CFR 141), TNI 2016 Standards, ISO/IEC 17025 standards, bottle water standards to ensure the laboratory is in compliance with the regulations impacting the lab state certifications
- Oversee and manage SOPs, the Quality Assurance Manual and other controlled documents to ensure that they are current, complete and reflect the laboratories practices.
- Coordinate and conduct internal audits
- Coordinate and host external onsite audits.
- Manage the Corrective Action Report system (CAR)
- Perform QA tasks as it related to the administration of the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Perform staff ethics and quality trainings as needed.
- Ensure along with QA staff and management that the lab is generating legally defensible data.
- Extract and assemble data monthly for corporate metric reporting
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess:
- At least 2 years of experience in quality assurance in a laboratory QA setting, ideally in the environmental testing sector.
- People skills with the ability to manage a team
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail oriented with the ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and a willingness to meet daily commitments with a widely varying workload
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum BS degree in chemistry or other related science field and at least two years of laboratory hands on experience in the environmental field testing.
- Working knowledge of the statistics involved in quality control of the laboratory.
- Previous experience on regulatory certification requirements, state certifications and Proficiency Test samples management
- Basic understanding of environmental test methods, Quality Assurance and Quality Control
