General Summary

  • The QI/IP nurse works with medical group departments and Medical Staff to assist in the coordination, facilitation and implementation of quality/performance improvement and infection control and prevention activities/efforts and regulatory compliance. The QI/IP nurse works and interacts in a positive manner, with the Medical Staff and the clinical departments to communicate and lead quality improvement, infection control & prevention and regulatory compliance efforts. The QI/PI nurse combines statistical knowledge and technical expertise to perform data collection, aggregation and analysis of data to communicate the findings to the various stakeholders and committees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures adherence to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and Joint Commission standards across all clinical departments and sites by remaining up to date on relevant standards.
  • Coordinates and conducts ongoing regulatory readiness and infection prevention rounding for the clinics.
  • Develops and delivers educational programs to include orientation for new employees and programs to addressing regulatory guidelines.
  • Serves as a resource on clinical, professional and reimbursement issues as it pertains to quality programs, and other regulatory bodies. Attends meetings and takes part in committees as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively with medical, nursing, and administrative leadership across clinical departments
  • Follows all privacy policies and maintains the confidentiality of protected healthcare information (PHI).
  • Serves as a backup to the Assistant Director of CQM for mandated quality programs such as Meaningful Use, Merit-based Incentive Payment Systems MIPS, and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and subsequent CMS quality initiatives.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered/Practical Nursing program required.


Work Experience

  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience in the health care setting required, preferably with experience in quality improvement and or infection prevention.
  • Knowledge of Meaningful Use principles, practices, and methods is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Rural Health Clinic regulations preferred.


Certification/License

  • Current RN/LPN license in the state of Missouri or Compact state required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
  • Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ) desired.

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Considerable mental concentration required. Lifting up to 35 lbs., turning activities and nearly constant walking required. Standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.


Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to infectious disease and hostile persons at times. Frequent exposure to communicable disease via blood and other body fluids. Minimal physical discomfort.
