About the opportunity:
We are seeking to hire a keen and self-motivated individual who loves the Internet, learning, sharing their knowledge, and applying new technologies to complex problems.
You have notable experience developing software and are good at using frameworks like Ruby on Rails to implement features and ship code regularly. You can also navigate large codebases and uncover the complexity of existing systems. You are open to giving and receiving feedback and participating in code reviews and design discussions. In addition to the above, you are agile and can remain effective when priorities shift.
We are a remote-first company, and this position can be completely remote with some events at our Toronto head office.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain an automation suite for a multi-tenancy platform powered by AWS. Improve automation efficiency and test coverage.
- Develop comprehensive User Stories/ test plans and strategies while collaborating with product managers, developers, and other team members to understand project requirements.
- Conduct functional, regression, and performance testing to validate software functionality and simulate real-world usage scenarios.
- Create and maintain detailed test documentation, including test cases, plans, and scripts. Report on testing progress, results, and coverage regularly to project stakeholders.
- Work closely with multi-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and project managers, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Participate in design and requirement reviews to provide recommendations on testability and quality considerations.
- Identify, isolate, and track software defects, providing detailed information to development teams for resolution. Collaborate with developers to reproduce and debug issues, ensuring accurate defect reporting.
- Actively contribute to continuously improving the quality assurance process. Offer suggestions on product design and implementation to enhance overall product quality.
- Share knowledge and act as a trusted mentor to junior team members. Coach peers on automation suites, writing and deploying test cases.
We are looking for people with the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional experience with Automated QA and BDD
- Experience working in quality assurance, focusing on testing web-based applications and software systems.
- Proven experience designing and improving both manual and automated E2E testing frameworks with a focus on an “Automate First” attitude.
- Strong knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience with both manual and automated testing techniques.
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages for test automation (e.g., Python, Ruby, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Kafka, Event Driven Architecture and Microservices
- Experience with Ruby on Rails and or Python, JavaScript and AWS
- Experience with Scrum/Kanban/ Jira
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Experience in the telecom industry

The base salary range for this position is $105,000.00 - $116,000.00 USD for US residents OR $89,000.00 to $99,000.00 CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ.
