Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer Developer to join our Phantom Works Space team in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position will support the Integrated Operations Support System (IOSS) project which supports multiple programs ranging from our Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) or Modeling and Simulation based test and training capabilities for Satellite Digital Twins and Space Battle Management Command, Control, and Communications (BMC3) programs.

This position will lead a small team with responsibilities for development, documents, and aligns requirements with deliverables. Must be able to create and establish software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, then execute test procedures and document ensuring results align with system requirements. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain software applications using Python for backend/API, Angular for frontend, and PostgreSQL for database management
  • Automate deployment processes using Ansible playbooks and manage containerized applications using Podman and Podman Compose
  • Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure smooth and efficient integration, testing, and deployment of software
  • Implement and maintain application security protocols, including HTTPS, SSL/TLS certificates, and secure coding practices
  • Configure and optimize Nginx as a reverse proxy and load balancer for web applications
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, testing, and production environments, ensuring high availability and performance of the software
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all code, configurations, processes, and dependencies
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in software development, DevOps, and security
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, including shell scripting and administration

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Colorado Springs, CO location.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). A final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5+ years of professional software development and broad engineering experience
  • 3+ years of software development experience with a backend programming language such as Python, C++, Java, or C#
  • 3+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD)
  • 3+ years of experience with microservice architectures utilizing Kubernetes/Docker for container orchestration
  • 3 + years of experience using automation tools (e.g., Docker, Terraform, and Ansible) to deploy/configure infrastructure and applications
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI
  • 5+ years of experience with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • 5+ years of experience with complex systems containing many integrated components
  • 5+ years of experience with open-source software development experience
  • 5+ years of experience with fine tuning Kubernetes and the underlying host OS for optimal performance in a low-latency environment
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deployments
  • Proven ability to plan, schedule, and deliver quality software
  • Experience and ability to support Government security requirements and best practices for software delivery involving system accreditation
