About the role

The objective of DOF Subsea is to become a recognized market leader and key contributor in the field of subsea & marine installations ranging from subsea tiebacks, offshore wind farms, umbilicals/flexibles, and platform mooring installations. The goal of the Engineering Department is to support and expand the core business of DOF Subsea with an emphasis on increasing the utilization of DOF vessels. This goal is to be achieved by utilizing internal engineering resources to plan and execute offshore operations as well as manage any required external engineering resources/partnerships to produce technical deliverables and/or analysis expertise not available internally.

·The Project Technical Manager (PTM) is a part of the project management team. The PTM is responsible for creating and directing a functional team of engineers and making sure that the team works together in an organized and efficient manner. The role of the PTM is to be result oriented and be a motivator and mentor for the team while ensuring “industry best practice” is utilized and documented in the development of the technical delivery for projects, tenders, and studies.

Key Tasks

Task can include, but limited to:

  • Support business acquisition, both for BD and Tendering activities
  • Promote DOF Subsea’s engineering capabilities to clients and the market in general
  • Increase communication between engineers and offshore managers/personnel across the region
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned
  • Promote the company’s organizational culture, values and reputation with all staff, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory/official bodies
  • Promote the development of a HSEQ culture and system that minimizes the risk of injury to personnel, the environment and equipment to ALARP levels (As Low As Reasonably Practical)
  • The PTM may be asked to deputize as Project Manager as and when required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the technical execution of projects, estimates and tenders
  • Follow-up of engineers in projects and quality controls
  • Follow-up of operations onshore and offshore
  • Follow-up of the interface between business partners and customers
  • Execute all responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in applicable engineering field of study (Civil, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Ocean, Structural, or equivalent) from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) certified program or international equivalent per ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs)
  • Professional engineering license (Recommended)

Experience/Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience direct in the offshore oil and gas industry
  • Extensive technical and operational working experience in offshore and subsea construction environments such as equipment and/or platform installations, launch and recovery methods for equipment, vessel mobilizations/demobilizations, equipment FAT/SIT/NDT testing, etc.
  • Experience managing workflow for project technical deliverables
  • History of completing technical and operational project deliverables on schedule and in compliance with project requirements/design basis
  • Extensive technical and operational experience planning and supervising marine crane lifts including evaluation of crane capacity and lift rigging design

Skills (social/technical) and Equipment:

  • Excellent specialized software knowledge- per engineering discipline/specialization (Example- Ansys/Inventor- Structural/Mechanical, Orcaflex- Hydrodynamics, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of the marine environment and technical challenges associated with executing projects in these conditions
  • In-depth knowledge of subsea infrastructure components- deployment methodologies, equipment handling restrictions, testing requirements, etc.
  • In depth knowledge of DNV lifting and underwater deployment/recovery codes pertaining to marine operations
  • Technical knowledge of seafastening design and analysis (vessel motions & structural design)
  • Technical knowledge to review subcontractor technical deliverables
  • Excellent analytical and technical capabilities
  • Excellent knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, best practices, and design codes
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • In depth working knowledge of DOF Business Management System (BMS)
