About the role

DroneUp is looking for a Project Manager, Testing to join our Technology Team. The Project Manager, Testing will be responsible for planning and managing all aspects of flight- and ground testing and help coordinate day-to-day activities of the DroneUp Testing Staff as they test new UAS technologies for various applications across our organization. This role requires a rigorous approach to field testing complex systems and their capabilities across a wide spectrum of environmental and operating conditions as well as good understanding of project-management and test-management tools and procedures used in our organization.


Responsibilities

  • Coordinate incoming test-requests through a workflow in Atlassian, identify and assign resources to the test plans and monitor the progress of each
  • Experience working in demanding environments with tight timelines to deliver critical functionality
  • Maintain backlog of testing-activities with resource planning over the upcoming quarters
  • Drive prioritization in case of resource conflicts throughout the company with various stakeholders like different product teams, systems engineering, operations, training, maintenance, etc.
  • Coordinate escalation process to leadership team in order to resolve potential conflicts
  • Coordinate with product- and system management staff to complete missing or incomplete information that is essential for scheduling test-execution
  • Coordinate with testing- and engineering teams to diagnose issues and solve complex problems
  • Manage the Flight Testing assigned to various entities not under direct control (i.e., RBC Instructors conducting operational flight testing)
  • Perform hardware and software troubleshooting
  • Assist in validating new consumer facing software features
  • Improve the DroneUp end-to-end experience, working closely with the engineers to identify and close major issues
  • Direct test planning activities to include creation of test plan, safety plan, and test cards
  • Manage execution of complex and elevated risk missions, adhering to a high level of safety and systems understanding
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Build quality release programs to eliminate variability, improve quality and ensure safety
  • Define project scope and objectives with input from stakeholders
  • Experience in working with Atlassian Toolsuite is required (Jira, Confluence, Advanced Roadmaps)
  • Experience in working with Requirements and Test-Management Toolsuite, e.g. Jama Connect
  • Basic mechanical and electrical system integration knowledge
  • Experience testing diverse UAV systems and products
  • Experience testing web based applications
  • Experience with wireless testing preferred
  • Detail-oriented communication and documentation skills
  • Manage multiple projects to successful completion
  • Project management scheduling experience is required
  • Bachelor's Degree in UAS, Aviation, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years in a UAS test flight capacity or other testing experience
  • FAA Part 107 Certification is preferred
  • Experience in PX4 or Ardupilot is helpful

Salary:

$115,000 - $135,000
