Zayo is seeking a Project Manager, Long Haul Controls to be a critical member of the long haul project team. The Project Manager, Long Haul Controls is responsible for optimizing project execution and improving program processes. The Project Manager, Long Haul Controls works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of programs, developing schedules, monitoring progress, and providing support to achieve program objectives. This position reports directly to the Head of Long Haul OSP Deployment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development of RFI/RFPs for the engineering and construction of new projects.

  • Collaborate with project managers to establish project schedules and deliverables, work closely with the contracts team to integrate into contracts.

  • Monitor project status against the contract schedule. Identify potential project schedule delays and facilitate intervention in a timely manner. Provide support for contract notices and recovery plans.

  • Assist project teams with set up and organization of project trackers per program standards.

  • Work closely with project managers to ensure project progress aligns with schedule expectations. Actively manage schedules and production forecasts through project execution.

  • Conduct regular internal audits to ensure adherence to established project tracking protocols.

  • Monitor, document, and report on those compliance-related activities.

  • Gather data from project teams on predefined KPIs and maintain a central database to track projects and dashboards across the program.

  • Prepare regular reports for management and stakeholders, summarizing project and program performance and results.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all schedule related documents, correspondence and changes.

  • Evaluate project invoicing against progress metrics, identify and resolve any anomalies or discrepancies.

  • Provide compliance training and education to project teams and vendors.

  • Track deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects meet established quality standards.

  • Ensure project teams and vendors complete all documentation and activities required to close out projects.

  • Collaborate with upstream functions (e.g., presales, service delivery, etc.) to ensure project schedule visibility.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in project tracking and processes, striving for efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Gather feedback from program participants and stakeholders to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and as per construction standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree preferred, preferably in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting or other related technical field, or equivalent work experience. Business degree/acumen a plus.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years in the telecommunications industry with outside plant, fiber optics, telecommunication architectures, optical transport equipment, and project management experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of project scheduling experience, preferably with specific long haul OSP or other large project construction experience.

  • Familiarity with all types of outside plant construction methods and best practices.

  • Working knowledge of OSP construction standards, fiber specifications and optical network design principles.

  • Understanding of different contract types and payment terms (unit rate, fixed, etc.).

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents.

  • Familiar with all facets of OSP project management including quoting, construction and delivery.

  • Experience managing large capital projects including writing purchase requisitions and receiving/reconciling invoices.
