About the role

Who We Are
At Firestorm, we’re on a mission to revolutionize how defense solutions are designed and delivered. Our goal is to empower U.S. ally nations to effectively deter aggressors — regardless of their defense budget — through innovative, cost-efficient technologies. We call this vision “democratized deterrence.” As a VC-backed company at the intersection of defense and Silicon Valley, we’re pioneering the development of mission-adaptable aerial vehicles that put power back into the hands of operators. By prioritizing operator effectiveness, we’re pioneering a new era of aerial vehicle design. We aim to upend the traditional defense procurement model by delivering world-class capabilities at a fraction of the usual cost. Join us at Firestorm as we redefine defense procurement, making cutting-edge technology accessible to all at a fraction of the cost. About the Role We are seeking a highly capable Project Engineering Technician to support the operation, deployment, and development of our xCell system and various Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In this role, you will play a critical part in producing mission-essential components, including modular unmanned aerial systems (MUAS), for use in forward-operating environments.
You will work closely with engineers and operational teams to ensure systems remain functional, mobile, and mission-ready across diverse and dynamic conditions. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in field-based, technically demanding environments. You’ll be part of a hands-on team that keeps the system functional, mobile, and mission-ready across diverse and dynamic conditions. What You'll Do
  • Deploy xCell systems domestically and internationally, including setup, teardown, and preparation for shipment or field operations
  • Assist with the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of equipment for new xCell builds and deployments
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate industrial additive manufacturing systems, including FDM, SLS, and MJF, to produce production-class precision parts
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on xCell systems and related equipment, including compressors, HVAC, generators, electronics, and robotic manufacturing tools
  • Inspect parts during and after production to ensure compliance with dimensional, functional, and quality standards
  • Utilize post-processing tools such as media blasters, drill presses, and hand tools to prepare parts for mission-critical use
  • Identify and communicate issues impacting production schedules or system performance to leadership in a timely manner
  • Support engineers and project managers in planning, organizing, and executing technical projects
  • Assist engineers with the development, integration, and installation of payloads for MUAS platforms
  • Produce and assemble mission-critical components for modular unmanned aerial systems
  • Document technical processes, system configurations, and maintenance activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues during installation and operation
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of systems and services
  • Participate in equipment training and comply with all safety and environmental protocols
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support deployments, field operations, and installations
 Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, equipment maintenance, or job shop environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations & the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
  • Proven experience maintaining industrial-grade AM hardware and production tools.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, mechanical systems, and basic diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret and manage digital files, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and maintenance records.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to support and mentor peers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail, safety-conscious, and dependable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel deploy to remote locations.
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Experience in high-tech, aerospace, or DoD-related manufacturing environments, including prior work in the military or with spacecraft, aircraft, or related system
