Position Summary
Design, develop, and manage projects for enlarging, modifying, and maintaining facilities to improve products and processes. Provide plant-wide engineering support for design, utilization and
operation issues relating to the Spring City facility and division-wide by advising on technical problems, technical changes to plant equipment, processes, energy, electrical/instrumentation
systems, and site facilities. Plans, organizes and initiates capital and repair projects. Implements projects from concept, design, and construction through start-up, written procedures, training, and operation.
Responsible for projects at Spring City. Solely responsible for projects from $3,000 to $2.5 million. Manage multiple projects; assists with other large expansion projects. Supervise contractors on
site through construction supervisors.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Accurately estimate and ensure correct construction by creating mechanical, structural, civil and electrical designs producing drawings required for installation or modification of plant processes and structures. Write the justification for assigned projects and process through required channels. Initiate contracts with detailed scopes of work, contractor bids, and rate sheets. Provide monthly forecast updates for all projects assigned. Target +/- 10%. Initiate, propose and implement both capital and repair projects after determining their economic and technical justification and keep the Plant Engineer informed on the progress of assigned projects. Assist and advise on the preventive maintenance program, cost control, and spare parts inventory control. Provide engineering services necessary for manufacturing operations, mechanical systems, and plant facilities. Plan, design, procure, and oversee installation of equipment needed to complete approved projects. Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, 5-7 years in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Project management experience is preferred.
Other Qualifying Criteria - Strong work ethic, “hands-on” approach to work, and willingness to learn.
