The Opportunity 

 

As a Project Engineer at Southwest Cheese you will provide engineering support aspects for ongoing and new project operations. This permanent position will report to the EHS & Engineering Manager and duties include but are not limited to the following; 

• Manage capital projects as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Manage other site projects including, budgeting, timelines, contractors, and documentation as directed by the Engineering Manager
• Coordinate all project activities with external and internal personnel including contractors, operations, safety, quality, and maintenance.
• Designs methods for maintaining or increasing projects while improving production costs, yields, quality, and safety.
• Troubleshoots project problems and identifies solutions which reduce downtime and conserve maintenance costs.
• Monitor project equipment to identify potential errors and develops solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
• Designs and conducts plant trials to determine the test methods, procedures, parts, and equipment needed to implement engineering changes.
• Develop accurate and efficient Process and Instrument Drawings for projects through the use of customer specifications, general process descriptions, company standards and verbal instructions. Designs will include Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems and interfacing as required. Ensure project system design complies with State and Federal regulations.

   The Skills you will bring to the team

• Requires a Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driving license with a clean driving record and no moving violations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to manage many details and deadlines while working with accuracy and precision.
• Ability to work and communicate across value chain with diverse team members.
• Work independently in a fast-paced and nimble team environment.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
