Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Programs Director to join our growing team. Reporting to the SVP Programs, the Programs Director will develop strategic and tactical responses to implement company business goals; provide leadership to the program managers; manage strategic and complex programs through the coordination of people, logistics, and material; profitably execute contractual responsibilities; develop systems to improve productivity and uniformity across portfolio programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary team efforts necessary to support business initiatives that meet company and customer contractual programs
  • Develop strategic business plans and metrics for forecasting revenue, expenses, capital, and headcount
  • Interface with the customer regarding ongoing programs and projects
  • Support the business development process
  • Oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes selection, work allocation, training, development, and problem resolution
  • Motivate, coach, and mentor employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Create and implement successful program plans which proactively address risk and provide a high degree of confidence supporting contract deliverable requirements
  • Support all milestone program reviews both internally and customer-facing, including leading dry-runs and rehearsals to ensure critical executive feedback is received
  • Track program budgets and schedules using Terran Orbital’s collaborative software tools
  • Analyze cost and revenue performance of programs, providing revenue forecasts and ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet profitability targets
  • Prepare basis of cost estimates, provide pricing rationale and recommendations supporting quotations, proposals for follow-on contracts
  • Monitor program schedule progress, cost performance, and risks monthly and prepare monthly program financial reports for management review
  • Develop accurate presentations and reports to support internal management and customer reviews
  • Perform strategic planning of organizations' goals by leading and managing the implementation of department-level business initiatives
  • Develop methods, procedures, and work practices to systematize management practices across the program management group
  • Contribute towards continuous technology and process improvement
  • Develop, track, and report visual metrics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); react to metrics by identifying and solving problems, making improvements, and advancing process control
  • Develop business opportunities and relationships across the defense and intelligence industry
  • Assist with business opportunities across other business units as requested

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in engineering or related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry or similar high-technology industry
  • Experience as a responsible Systems Engineer or Program Manager on aerospace projects
  • Applicant will be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain a US TS/SCI Security Clearance and all special accesses required for a portfolio of special programs
  • Solid understanding of the Space and Mission Payloads business market and established relationships with DoD Primes in their markets
  • Extensive background in development work in the Space and Mission Payloads business areas
  • Ability to develop technology road maps for space programs and lead new business and product developments
  • Ability to understand contracts, business law, and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and apply the concepts and principles, including knowledge of cost accounting principles and finance
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience and proficiency in task management
  • Proven success in managing projects through production material control/scheduling, engineering principles
  • Experience developing proposals for defense and civil agency announcements and mission opportunities
  • Ability to help organize and manage a team of personnel, develop program schedules, and control budgets to meet required deadlines
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and grow skills of the program management team
