About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will maintain document compliance of current sex offenders with the laws that govern the registry. Conducts data review, research, and analysis using various databases in accordance with §9.1-900 through §9.1-918 of the Code of Virginia. Oversees key administrative functions of the Sex Offender Registry, including offender notifications, registration updates, investigative case processing, and records management. Manages correspondence, verifies data accuracy, and responds to inquiries from offenders, law enforcement, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications
•Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
•Skilled in using a personal computer; Microsoft Office applications; and typing.
•Ability to research and analyze information and make logical decisions based on policies, procedures, and laws; perform research on questionable data by applying established procedures from training and learn laws regarding registration requirements; apply general knowledge of computer functions; to exercise independent judgment and apply prescribed policies and procedures; to follow written and verbal instructions; to pay close attention to details; work independently and as part of a team; to interact with the co-workers, general public, and others contacted internally and externally in the course of work; and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English.
•High school graduation or GED equivalent.
•Experience in researching and analyzing data from a variety of sources to determine validity and identify missing elements.
•Requires Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
