Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a qualified professional to assume the role of Program Project Specialist II, who will perform complex, specialized administrative work in providing available requested Department records to the general public pursuant to federal, state and departmental rules and regulations. This position also communicates with requesters regarding details and needs related to documentation, reviews written requests and maintains electronic files.

Job Duties:

- Reviews and redacts records for public release in accordance with applicable laws and Departmental guidelines
- Analyzes each request and ensures appropriate information is provided
- Receives, tracks and responds to public records requests in accordance with Federal and State laws and Departmental policies and procedures
- Conducts, researches, analyzes documents and requests
- Compiles documents and composes professional correspondence
- Attends meetings and trains classes, prepares various reports and reconciles cash payments for documents preparation and copies
- Special projects as assigned, including supporting response efforts for requests for production of documents, subpoenas and court orders
- Drives on state business
- Other duties assigned as related to the position

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- State and Federal laws and regulations
- ADCRR policies and procedures
- Arizona Correction Information System (ACIS)
- Computer operation and proficiency in software program (Google, Gmail)
- Proper spelling, grammar, vocabulary and math
- Principles and practices of administration and management

Skill in:
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Establishing workload priorities
- Using personal computer
- Related peripheral equipment and various software programs
- Working on multiple tasks/assignments simultaneously and providing a high level of customer service
- Detail, time management
- Strong research and analysis
- Critical reading and analyzing data

Ability to:
- Understand, explain and apply State and Federal Laws
- Use a computer
- Work independently
- Work on various urgent request at the same time
- Compose varied correspondence in accordance with relevant policy and procedures
- Plan, analyze and coordinate activities
- Work in a fast-paced, pressured environment to meet deadlines with short notice
- Exercise judgement regarding policies and procedures, exercise confidentiality
- Interpret policy and procedures for the public and certain criminal justice agencies
- Utilize critical and analytical thinking in reviewing and redacting department records
- Interpret, and apply applicable laws, codes, regulations and Department policies to redact and release records and maintain confidential information
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the public, department personnel and outside agencies

Selective Preference(s):

- Paralegal Degree and/or Certificate preferred
- Experience performing administrative work in a criminal justice or law office environment
