- Devise strategies that enable Meta to participate in and contribute to open mapping initiatives such as OpenStreetMap, OSGeo, and the Open Geospatial Consortium.
- Use data analysis and geospatial tools to get insights into Meta’s mapping coverage, while developing and executing plans that improve Meta’s mapping coverage in these areas.
- Create and manage Meta’s communication strategy for open community mapping initiatives.
- This includes blog posts, landing pages, conferences, and social media.
- Manage the community of contributors using Meta’s Places Editor, ensuring that feedback from contributors is shared with product and engineering teams.
- Coordinate training and partnerships with companies, government, NGOs, and volunteer map contributors utilizing Meta’s mapping tools.
- Work closely with product management and engineering to drive usage of external mapping products such as Daylight, Mapillary, and RapiD.
- Coordinate and represent Meta’s mapping efforts within the geospatial industry at conferences such as State of the Map, Esri UC, and FOSS4G.
- *Employer will accept a 3 or 4 year Bachelor’s degree. Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent* in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field and five years of work experience in job offered or computer-related occupation. Foreign Degree equivalency accepted.
- Requires five years of experience in the following:
- 1. Delivering technical programs or products from inception to delivery
- 2. Communicating and representing work to senior leadership and framing discussions to gain valuable feedback
- 3. Working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
- 4. Analytical and problem-solving with complex software development
- 5. Establishing and leading teams through multi-disciplinary relationships including product management and engineering to drive product impact
- 6. Working with OpenStreetMap data and geospatial analysis tools such as QGIS
- 7. External coordination, development and execution of communication strategies within the mapping industry.
