Location: Hybrid – 2 days/week in office
All candidates must be within commutable distance of SEO’s offices at 55 Exchange Place, New York, NY 10005, upon hire.
LOCATION/HOURS
- This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule requiring in-person work three days a week (including required Saturdays) and virtual work two days a week. The typical weekly schedule is as follows:
- Fall Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)
- Spring Term: Tuesday through Saturday (3x a month); Monday through Friday (1x month)
- Summer Term: Monday through Friday
- In-person attendance is required for all Saturday programming dates.
- Work requires local travel beyond the office for Saturday programming at the following locations (subject to change):
- Long Island University
- Baruch College

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Program Manager is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional responsible for overseeing and supporting mentorship and enrichment - two key elements of the Scholars program. The mentoring program at SEO provides 11th-grade scholars with experienced mentors to help with college and career readiness skills. The Enrichment Program offers 11th-grade scholars with local and international study abroad internship opportunities ranging from academic, experiential, and professional. With a focus on creating opportunities for underserved high school students, the program manager hires, manages, and develops the mentoring program assistant, who serves as the primary contact for mentors and triages mentor-mentee relationship concerns. They also coordinate enrichment program logistics, manage data tracking systems, and support the planning and executing of the 11th-grade overnight college tour.
The Program Manager ensures the smooth operation of various program components and supports Scholars, mentors, and enrichment program partners.
Mentoring Program
- Supervises and supports the part-time Mentoring Program Assistant.
- Serves as the primary contact person for mentors, communicating all announcements and updates and troubleshooting issues as needed.
- Serves as liaison to Scholar-facing Program Managers to align mentoring sessions with general Scholar programming.
- Works with the Senior Manager to prepare for mentoring on Saturdays, managing attendance, and co-facilitating sessions.
- Coordinates with the operations team on logistics for mentor information sessions and mentoring sessions with Scholars.
- Manages mentor recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for new and returning mentors.
- Coordinates with the Senior Manager to collect and analyze mentor/mentee survey data to inform recruitment, matching, and mentor retention strategies.
Enrichment Program
- Collects, tracks, and manages data relevant to the enrichment program process, including transcripts, tax forms, family permission, and program preferences.
- Oversees Enrichment Programs by liaising with program contacts & guiding Scholars through application and enrollment cycles.
- Advises assigned Scholars in completing program and financial aid applications, including meetings, timelines, essay editing, and materials collection to ensure on-time completion.
Events & Administration
- In conjunction with the 11th-grade Team, assist with planning and executing the 11th-grade overnight college tour for 250 people, including support with logistics such as supplies procurement and dining.
- Manages one-off volunteer events.
- Manage mentor and mentee attendance for Saturday programming, outings, and professional development sessions.
- Collect and analyze mentor/mentee survey data for recruitment, matching, and retention strategies.
- Support with tracking and managing data relevant to the 11th-grade team, including report cards, transcripts, tax forms, family permissions, and program preferences.
