JOB DESCRIPTION Job Summary

Provides subject matter expertise and leadership for health equity activities. Develops and deploys health equity promotion strategies and health disparity reduction strategies in communities that Molina serves - supports equitability, community health and engagement initiatives, advocacy, health equity analytics, bias reduction and diversity equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices. Contributes to overarching enterprise and/or specific health plan strategy to provide quality and cost-effective member care.

 

Essential Job Duties


• Researches evidence-based practices and nationally recognized criteria - designing and recommending opportunities to enhance efforts through scaling best practices, technology platforms and/or other culturally relevant modes of communication/insights and perspectives generated by impacted and diverse stakeholders.
• Engages in local or national community health disparities assessments, qualitative and quantitative data collection, focus groups, gap analysis, and intervention program development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives. Will focus on priority areas such as the quality Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS) measures, and collaborates with community-based organizations on joint disparity reduction projects.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external partners, stakeholders, community organizations and agencies to develop, deploy and/or promote health equity programs that include addressing identified priority disparities and improving health quality and outcomes.
• Identifies, develops and maintains working relationships with local and/or national community-based organizations (CBOs), vendors, and provider partners, and participates in community coalitions to actively listen and understand community needs, health inequities, and the disparities that exist due to social, economic, and historical inequalities, etc.
• Serves as liaison to CBOs and conducts outreach to additional ethnic and cultural groups and populations as needed to engage their interest in and participation with Molina disparities reduction programs. Targeted groups may include individual stakeholders, community partners, and neighborhood groups as well as faith-based, youth-serving, educational, public health, and non-profit organizations.
• Participates in community outreach and engagement programs activities, and assists in the development of programs and methodologies that increase health equity.
• Manages planning, design, implementation, training, evaluation and reporting of specified health equity initiatives.
• Acts as point person and thought partner with internal and external health equity partners to guide adoption and development of strategies to promote health equity and identify and address health disparities.
• Develops and conducts presentations on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including topics such as implicit bias, health disparities, and cultural humility, etc.
• Identifies communications strategies for dissemination of equitable outcomes - researching and making appropriate recommendations.
• Stays informed of health care industry best practices and managed care regulatory requirements.

 

Required Qualifications


• At least 5 years health care experience, including 2 years working with members/providers, and experience working in a health equity capacity, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Clinical licensure and/or certification required ONLY if required by state contract, regulation or state board licensing mandates. If licensed, license must be active and unrestricted in state of practice.
• Health plan employees will require valid and unrestricted driver's license, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance for job related travel requirements.
• Background, experience or training in equity (health, racial, educational, economic, etc.), social and racial justice, unconscious bias, microaggression, cultural competence and humility, social drivers of health, diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Familiarity with concepts such as social determinants of health (SDOH) and issues relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Knowledge of disparities in health care relating to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.
• Knowledge and understanding (lived experience preferred) of health care issues in underserved populations.
